A lil' history:
This was a collaboration with the CARE team that organizes the exclusive Cast Members heritage events for the Walt Disney World. Further, every year, some of the Cast Members participate and compete in the Canoe Races of the World, also known as C.R.O.W. This annual race originally started in 1963 at the Disneyland Park as a part of the Recreation club, later became Cast Activities. Later on, the race has been introduced to the Walt Disney World in 1973 and has been the cast favorite ever since. This specific event became so popular that it has been passed to all Disney parks around the globe with each park having it's own unique version to call their own.
For this year of 2020, Princess Tiana became the mascot and the branding persona for the event. Therefore, I designed a logo, which got reflected over various mediums, including a collectable enamel pin, TV/Web Slides, and bunch of signages for the actual event. Further, Due to an intense copy write restrictions, I decided to hand-letter the title around an approved illustration of the Princess Tiana.

In the process of creating the artwork, I became familiar with the pin printing process, restrictions, and timelines. This specific project, like the rest of the Disney related works that I was part of, became delayed due to the COVID-19 and hopefully will be put into production right after the quarantine.

DISNEYLAND CANOE RACES

Disneyland Canoe Races is another annual race that is taken place in the California every year, just like C.R.O.W. In this project, I not only had the opportunity to create collectable items, such as Cast Member exclusive pins, but I also designed additional collateral pieces, including t-shirt artwork, division medals, donut themed merch, and name tag for participants of the race.

This whole project was inspired by the 65th Anniversary of the Disneyland Resort and a specific style guide that I was provided for inspiration. Further, for overall pieces in the collateral, I was limited with 7 colors and approved illustration from the Digital Media Center (DMC). After exploring our resources at the DMC website, I was able to find the below illustration where I could frankenstein the characters to hold the paddles with sporty attire, which was also noted in the requirements for the artwork.

Below, is the main branding/logo of the 2020 event, as well as the pin version for participants of the actual race. I was able to modify the original colors of the artwork to reflect the style guide mentioned above. All the elements and the typography are highly inspired and imitated by the Disneyland's 65th Anniversary branding.

Later on, I divided the main logo into two layouts for the t-shirt design. All the typography was required to be placed on the front and the rest of the characters to the back of the t-shirt. Therefore, I decided to create a "pocket" design for the front and simplify the main logo for the back side of the shirt.

Aside from the pieces mentioned above, during the annual canoe races, some of the officers bring out donuts for the contestants and rock some donut themed merch during the event. Therefore, I designed modified version of the original logo for the officers in charge of the donut stands. My client on this project also needed a name tag design in a traditional Disney tag format with the donut theme for the future events.

Further, for the actual race, I designed division medals for the winners of the event. Due to Disney's 50th anniversary with a Sapphire theme, I decided to create medals with shades of blue complimented with gold. During the design process, I also created a packaging/stand for the medals showcased below.
